South Auckland Ford Premiers 12 v Bombay 6

Defense was the key to a hard fought battle on the hill, after 15 minutes of holding out Bombay on our try line the boys got a turnover and with some fine running from the backs set up a nice try to Tyrone Lefau 5 nil, again Bombay with the help of several penalties played the game in our half but once on attack we looked settled and the forwards almost going over for a try in the corner with the back line spread wide the ball was sent out to Robbie Avei who cut back and scored by the posts to go up 12 nil ( Dean Cummings 1 con ). Conway off at half time with young Felemi Toalima coming on at 6, Half time and the chance of a bonus point win looked likely to the small crowd on the Marist side of the field. But after 10 minutes 3 points to Bombay and the forwards were defending in our half again and so the game became one of defense with the Bombay pack retaining the ball and the penalties kept coming keeping them in our half whenever we got out, yet another penalty made it 12 to 6 , Great general play by Dean Cummings helped keep the Bombay team in check, Some big defense by captain Jeremiah Fatialofa and number 7 Jeremy Corliss ( player of the day )also saved the day. Conway was taken to Hospital for check and I understand is at home a bit sore but ok. As the season progresses the games are even more close as Waiuku just beat Onewhero, Puke just over Karaka and the only 5 point bonus this week to Patie over Rewa who slide to sixth. This week home to Onewhero.

Troy Wheeler Contracting Premier Reserves 58 v Bombay 0

Two played four but there was only one team in this, apart from a strong showing at scrum time the rest was ours with the backs cutting loose some very nice team tries with the whole team involved in more than one try also some fine individual ones from number 10 Karl Ropati and winger Whaiora Rangiwai ( 2 ) apart from David Neru’s ( player of the day ) muffed try behind the posts a very good display from the boys brings us up close as Karaka going down to Puke. Onewhero at home this week.

Troy Wheeler Contracting Under 21s

Had a good win over Waiuku and keep their top four chance on track. Waiuku never easy at Waiuku so well done boys this week home Darby against Papakura.

Under 19s

Went down to Patumahoe they are away to Hauraki North.

Under 85s

Also lost to a well drilled and experienced Pakuranga side, Tainui Rickard picking up a nice try, they are away this week as are the Presidents (nice win on number 1 field boys ).

Three teams at home 28th May see you there.

Premiers and Premiers Reserves v Pukekohe - Clive Pryor

The very weekend we want fine weather and the heavens opened and produced two games of rugby played in various levels of rain.

First up the Reserves had first use of a very wet track and this game was a cracker with the Ardmore Marist boys looking to reverse a very close loss in the first round. Having first use of the wind and rain Pukekohe looked as though they were going to pull off the same sort of result scoring an early try and a penalty to hold a 8-7 lead at half time.

The Ardmore Marist try came from a beauty by Raymond Cullen who looks in great touch since returning from LA.

The game was marred 10 minutes from the half by a large scrap sparked by a late shot by a Puke player on Matthew Kitto who had taken the ball into touch. The ref from Thames Valley did a good job of settling things down and getting the sides playing rugby.

Once the boys turned with the elements at their back they were able to dominate field position and possession and ran out 27-8 winners with two additional tries and a couple of penalties. With Karaka losing this leaves the Reserves top of the table and next week against Karaka will be interesting to say the least.

It seems the Reserves have a kicking ace in Whai although we note that Clarkie takes the close ones i.e. those right in front.

With the Premiers needing a win to retain a top four place the weather is not what the pacy Ardy boys wanted to see and it was clear that this was not going to be easy. The difference on the day was the steady boot of Rob Dennison who kick four penalties to one by Karl Savelio-Ropati .

After playing into the elements in the first half the boys would have been happy to turn at only 9-3 down and while managing to get loose on a couple of occasions the Puke defence was very determined and disciplined and managed to hold on for the win. No disgraces in the loss and the forward pack welcomed back some players from injury in Sikeli Nabou who started for the first time this season and lock Chris McLaren also put in a solid 20 minutes and will be available next weekend.

On a fine day we have the beating of this Puke team and I am sure that we would be happy to meet them in the semis.

Next weekend is a big game against Karaka. We are just out of the top four and the team ahead of us by three points is Karaka so it will be all on for next weekend as we need to win the last two to make the semis. So get out your red and blue and get down to the park next weekend.

Scheduled Games this Weekend

Senior Games Video

Premiers v Pukekohe

Sherwin over against Pukekohe

The counter attack opportunity results in a good try by Blues player Sherwin Stowers. Good work by Lolohea Loco to get the momentum back after a loose pass.

Shwerz and Lolo too much pace

Dont kick the ball to the back three! You will be burned! A neat try converted by Deano from wide out.

Premiers Reserves v Bombay

Preston scores the first against Bombay

Some strong foward work and a slick backline move sees Preston over under the posts.

Preston Again for the Reserves

If you don't put your kicks out you will be punished!

Premiers v Bombay

Nili's Greatest Hits

A selection of Nili's greatest hits from Saturday. Enjoy!

Junior finishes off for Amos.

Junior Taufua in his first season at Premier level follows up on Amos's steal from the lineout and scores a good try. The conversion attempt hits the posts.

Suli scores a wingers try in the corner.

Quick lineout ball and a switch of play and Suli goes over in the corner a'la Sean Fitzpatrick.

Lolohea Loco No1 v Bombay

Lolo finishes off from the break from loose play by Danny.

Sherwin No1 v Bombay

Cody Martin intercepts a lose Bombay pass and scoots 50m upfield. Quick ball to Sherz who scores under the bar.

Lolo scores his second v Bombay

Lolo is Johnny on the spot to take the inside pass and beat the final defender for a well excuted try.

Nice take in the lineout by Junior to start the move.

Sherz finishes off for his second try

From hard on defence the kick out by Danny is deep and the chase is good. Chris is told not to pick up the ball and the Bombay player makes a break.

Big Mistake! He meets Nili who hammers him to the ground and the ball is turned over. Note that all the front row handle in this move and Serwin finishes off!

Cody smashes over.

Flying prop Cody shows that he has the muscle as well as pace smashing a couple of defenders out of the way from close to the line. Cody has been a standout at prop this year.

Sherz for three!

From the quick tap, Danny finds a rampaging Myah who makes ground for Nili to make even more. Quick recycle and hands and the ball finds its way to Sherwin to do what he does best.

Score tries!

Premiers v Manurewa

Danny's First Try for the Club

Danny follows up the grubber from Amos and toes it over the line for his first try for the club.

Tyrone's Try v Manurewa

Tyrone slips through the defence after a break off the back of the scrum by Amos to take the scoreline to 24-22. Converted by Karl Savelio.

Danny over again vs Manurewa!

Danny cuts through the Manurewa defence to score his second for the day.

Premiers v Patumahoe

Watch the entire 2nd Half!

The second half of Ardmore Marist v Patumahoe played at Bruce Pulman park on March 19th 2011. The game resulted in a solid 23-11 first up win.

Amos scores under the bar

The best try of the season (so far). There is some really good stuff here starting with the scrum dominance, the burst by Cody and then good hands out the backline. The retention at the breakdown is solid and Paty are pretty lucky not to have someone in the bin. Mossy cuts the gap created by the cutout pass and scores under the sticks.

Karl Savelio-Ropati's first try

Cody makes a good burst off the break by Deano and Patumahoe win the scrum feed, After popping the Patumahoe front row the Ardmore Marist lineout works a treat and Suli makes a good driving run with an offload to Dean who passes to Amos, to Leon, to Tyrone, Cameron Bell and to Karl who flashes over in the corner.

Deano slots the second penalty

Good build up to the second penalty by Dean with Tyrone Lefau prominent in the move. watch for the flying attempted tackle that thankfully missed. Referee James Imlach spots another offence and Dean slots the penalty to tie the game up.

First points of the season!

After good build up work from the lineout the backs and fowards work into good field position and the penalty is won.

Ardmore Marist Take Out Counties Sevens (Video)

The Ardmore Marist Sevens team coached by Bevan Murray took out the Counties Sevens in style this weekend beating a strong Patumahoe team (The Saints) featuring Tim Nainai Williams in the semi final 21-5 and then taking out the final against Karaka 27-17.

Hard to pick out individuals from a great team effort with every player contributing. New boys Tyrone and Danny were outstanding as were the Cody, Suli, Myah, Conway, Rayza, Fritz, Sikeli, Alvin, and Preston.

Great to see the tradition of success in this tournament continue with wins in the six of the last nine tournaments.

What the video of the entire game right here!

Ardmore Marist Win Bombay Sevens

The sevens boys under coach Bevan Murray have taken out the Bombay Sevens in a warm up for the Counties Sevens this weekend. The final was against Pukekohe and it is always good to put one over the boys from Pukekohe.

The team included Suli, Sikeli, Cody, Whai, Conway, Leighton, Carwyn, Rayza and a few of Sikeli’s mates as we had a few away overseas and couple of injuries. Whai picked up a pretty bad knee injury and is likely out until January.

Rusty Makes Fijian Sevens Squad

Standout No7 from last season Risiate Tadulala (Rusty Cullen to some) has made the Fijian Sevens team. Congratulations Rusty and we wish you all the best except when you are up against NZ.
