Premiers v Manurewa

Sherwins First of the Day - Best of the season to date

This is a beauty. Forwards and backs combine. Watch for the crunching run by Ed Roa in his blazer game, his locking partner Chris McLaren and the dont come here by young prop Max Silulu. From a defensive lineout to scoring in one sequence of play is damned fine to watch. Good win by the boys 32-25.

Sherwins Second feat. Whai and Sikeli.

Almost as good at the first. Whai steals the ball while in defence and the poor Manurewa return kick is turned into a try under the stick by Sherwin. Sikeli handles the ball twice in the final movement and delivers the final pass.

Sherwin completes the hatrick!

More multi phase action and some slick handling putting Sherwin over in the corner.

I think Sherz is enjoying the day! Over for his fourth.

From a scrum the back do the business putting Sherwin over in the corner. Look for the nice incision by Toetu David who is away with the Samoa Under 20's.

Lolo for the match winner!

Final try of the day bringing up the win 32-25. Lolo finishes off in style after the Rewa D has been stretched. Nice pass Robsta Avei!

Rob's Match Report

Ardmore Marist South Auckland Ford and Mazda Premiers 20 v Waiuku 12

A great performance from the forwards secured enough go forward ball for the backs to cut loose out wide. Starting well the try's were coming fast and a bonus point win looked likely. The forwards stepped up to more than match Waiuku taking three of their first lineouts and winning the turnover ball. Up 17 nil Ardmore Marist looked in control but Waiuku scored near the end of the first half. A penalty made it 20 to 5 at the break. The second half Waiuku stepped it up but could not get enough control to win the game, ending up well beaten. Its been a while since we beat Waiuku and the win added the Counties Power Cup plus the Bell Cup to trophy cabinet and looking ahead to a promising season. The team moves up to third with Waiuku second (Waiuku yet to have their bye). Keep it up guys. Next week Bombay up the hill.

Ardmore Marist South Auckland Ford and Mazda Premier Reserves 17 v Waiuku 21

Three tries to 7 kicks say's it all. Our team dominated the play and crossed the line several times but failed to finished off. They looked like they were a run short and could have won well, but lost a game that should have been a 5 point win, instead getting a 1 point bonus loss.

Under 21s 16 v Patumahoe 21

A tight game that was lost a the very end. Should have been 16 all, their best game to date. Away this week.

Under 85 8 v Teachers Eastern 3

A win in this grading round for 1 from 1.

Presidents

At home at 1pm this week with the Presidents.

Ardmore Marist Win Wellington Sevens

Ardmore Marist Sevens too good at Wellington

While the rest of you were thinking about the NZ Sevens the Ardmore Marist sevens team coach by Bevan Murray and managed by Glen Flavell was taking out the NZ Marist Sevens Cup. A draw and two wins on the Friday morning saw us into the quarter finals on Saturday morning.

Fridays best game was the 24 to 14 win over Marist Saint Pats.

Saturday morning started off with a good win in the quarters and a big win in the semi. Playing Nelson Marist in the final went to the wire with a close 21 to 17 win. Danny Tusitala was the supporters player of the day with Suli Taufalele and Tyrone Lefau once again standing out. New boys Bruce Kaino, Lucky Palamo also impressing and well backed up by Preston Elama. Three of the boys that were available were selected for the NZ Marist Sevens in Fiji Suli Taufalele, Bruce Kaino and Tevita Li ( only 16 and a star on the horizon ).

Back at the hostel a well run court session saw everyone involved in the fines and a good time had by all.
